Mr. Life Chemhere

Mr. Life Chemhere, is an MBA final year student (Univ. of Zimbabwe), a holder of B.Ed. (Univ. of Zimbabwe), Dip.Ed. (Seke Teachers’ college) and Dip in Sports Management (IOC). He also holds coaching certificates in soccer, volleyball, netball, cricket, gymnastics, athletics and base ball. He serves the Department of Teacher Education for quality assurance, Confederation of Universities and College Sports Association in southern Africa as an Assessor and is an executive member for both ZUSA and ZTISU.

The Department of Sport and Recreation is the sport service of the University of Zimbabwe. The department is composed of well experienced sport enthusiasts who deliver a programme of sport opportunities and fitness activities for beginners through to elite athletes. The Department is committed to helping students, staff, and the wider community of all abilities to participate in sport and physical activity, helping to combine an active mind with an active body.

The mission of the department is to enhance campus life by providing sports and recreational programme, facilities and services to the University community which encourages healthy lifestyles, guide and develop student leadership skills, foster cooperate behavior and provide diverse sport and fitness opportunities. Its vision is to be recognised as a leader in sports and recreational services guided by excellence, fair play teamwork, continuous improvement and open participation as its core values. The department’s mandate is to; 1) Provide co-curricular programs and services that enhance the success of students in a safe and diverse environment 2) Improve the health and wellness of the University community 3) Develop and improve the Sports and Recreation facilities on campus to world standards 4) Identify, develop and nurture talent to elite levels.
