UZ Hosts Visiting Delegation from People’s Friendship University of Russia

The University of Zimbabwe was host to a four member visiting delegation from the People’s Friendship University of Russia on 21 September 2016. The delegation sought to explore potential areas of academic collaboration between the People’s Friendship University of Russia and the University of Zimbabwe.  

Speaking at a reception organized in honour of the visiting team, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe, Professor Levi Nyagura thanked the People’s Friendship University of Russia for considering the University of Zimbabwe as a potential collaborative partner in academic business. He further expressed the University’s readiness and willingness to forge collaborative activities with the visitors’ university in areas covering the span of the University’s academic activities in the nine Faculties – Agriculture, Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Law, Science, Social Studies, Veterinary Science and the College of Health Sciences. Speaking at the same occasion, the head of the visiting delegation, Professor Shchesnyak Evgeny thanked the University of Zimbabwe for the hospitality extended to his team and expressed excitement at the prospects of collaborating with the University of Zimbabwe in areas that included, but not limited to, staff and student exchanges, joint research and joint organization of, and participation in academic forums such as conferences and workshops.

The People’s Friendship University of Russia is an educational and research institution located in southern Moscow. It is ranked by the Ministry of Education of Russia as the country’s third-best university after Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University. The University offers a wide range of teaching and research programmes in almost all areas of the humanities, sciences and life sciences.
