WHO ARE WE?
The Student Affairs Division is an arm of administration that is responsible for creating and providing an environment that promotes good learning and social skills. To achieve this, the Division offers the undergraduates a broad network of social and academic support and activities that are designed to assist them realize their goals and enjoy their University life.
WHAT WE OFFER
Since undergraduate life is a blend of academic, social and co-curricular activities, the Student Affairs Division provides high quality and user-friendly facilities and services that include counselling and advisory services, career guidance, on and off campus residential facilities, sports and recreational facilities, high quality health care and health education, disability services for students with special needs, spiritual guidance through Chaplaincy and Ecumenical services, and guidance on scholarships and fees support schemes.
Should you have academic, financial, spiritual, psychological or social problems and are not sure where to go or what to do; the Dean of Students’ office is open to give you advice and guidance on how to deal with your situation. Feel free to approach the Dean of Students for help at any time. The Student Affairs staff members are here to look after your welfare and make your life at the University comfortable and an enjoyable experience.
Deputy Dean of Students’ Office
The Deputy Dean’s office is situated in the Student Service Centre. Students facing challenges in raising their educational fees can access the government cadetship loan facility administered through the Loans Office which is located in the Deputy Dean’s Office. Also under the Deputy Dean’s office is the Life Skills Centre which is responsible for directing policy on life skills development and the administration of a wide range of student clubs and associations on campus (including leadership and governance, gender, HIV/AIDS related issues, entrepreneurship, etc.). Students are encouraged to join at least one club of their choice.
Counselling and Advisory Services Department
Students facing social, psychological, career or educational challenges should approach this Department for counselling, advice and guidance. We have Clinical Psychologists at your service. Also on offer in this Department are peer education programmes and career guidance. The Department is located in the Student Service Centre.
Disability Resource Centre
The University of Zimbabwe enrolls and caters for students with special needs. The Disability Resource Centre is responsible for taking care of those members of our family who are living with disabilities, assisting them with all their academic and social needs and making their stay at University a pleasant and comfortable experience. Students with special needs are encouraged to register with the Disability Resource Centre. All students are also encouraged to visit and familiarize themselves with activities of this Department. The Department is located in the University Teaching and Learning Centre Building.
